Futuroscope de poitier
For orchestra and amplified piano
First work from a serie of ten post modern
pieces for orchestra trying to reflect the climate
intended by architects through their creations.
https://francoisrossignol2.bandcamp.com
Falling water
For orchestra
Inspired by the landmark house of the same name
from architect Frank Lloyd Wright, the music
condenses both nature and modern architecture in a
frenzied amalgam of harmony and counterpoint.
A colorful and vibrant contrast of modes and tonalities.
https://francoisrossignol2.bandcamp.com
Dominus rex
For choir and orchestra
At first it was an attempt to refresh my knowledge
of counterpoint in a baroque style, but it soon became
a full lenght cantata. Though the aesthetic prevails,
the message in its essence remains religious
and respectful.
Les âmes dans nos eaux
For violin and piano
Anik Paquet, violon
Valerie Grenier, piano
Inspired by a tragedy that shook the cities of Richelieu, Chambly
and their surroundings. This music is an in memoriam to the people
of my county that lost their lives in our river.
https://francoisrossignol.bandcamp.com
Les feux follets (prélude)
For violin and piano
The mythical fumes that evaporates from the cemetery grounds.
I imagined them as if they were the spirits of the people buried
below that come out in the spring time to celebrate de new season.
https://francoisrossignol.bandcamp.com
PACEM
For two trombones and piano
A transfiguration of spiritual bliss
obtained through a soft and eloquent
brass climax that leaves us airborne on
top of piano fragments.
https://francoisrossignol2.bandcamp.com
Duo for cello and piano No.2
For cello and piano
A radical approach to modern impressionism, this piece takes us in
the urban realms of the great metropolises and the frenetic activities
that animates them.
Un soir sur le balcon d'Anik
For violin and piano
Anik Paquet, violon
Valerie Grenier, piano
On a beautiful summer night, sitting outside alone, my gorgeous girlfriend
appears as if fading in from the stars. I know this is as cliché as a love scene
from a Charlie Chaplin film, but there is no use hiding it. I was in love and
this is thruthfully what came to mind when I thought about it again later.
Peu avant l'aube
For solo piano
Written in Paris during a residency at Les Récollets,
this is the last piece in a repertoire of music for solo piano
intended for general public, but mostly for students who
want to explore different modern styles that don't require
vast interpretation skills. It is based on writing clarity.

Kentucky Myst
For solo piano
Writen and performed by yours truly. The inspiration for the work came to me at
a friend and fellow composer's house. It was the morning of the second day of what was
going to be a very special roadtrip across the USA. I made a few compositions during that
voyage. I have compiled them into an opus I call "Scrapbook notes from an American Roadtrip".
The book should be released in 2016.
La jeune fille et le blaireau
For solo piano
Taken from a cycle of fables for piano, it is trying to tell the tale of a young girl luring
a badger into believing they could be friends when in fact, the enfant is setting a trap
to imprison the animal because in truth, she is scared.

La possibilité des portes clauses
For solo piano
I guess I could call this a life long project. As I was reading Jean-Simon DesRocher's
"La canicule des pauvres", it occured to me that since I am some kind of program composer,
this would be a great inspirational tool box from which I could pull out my inventiveness.
The chapters from this book are so colorful and unique, I simply could not resist this endeavor.
I am now at my 15th piece from this book that has probably over 150 chapters. Work for years
to come...
Robin et Marion
For solo piano
A friend of mine was giving an outdoor concert
with his band Corsaire and this music popped into
my head just as loud as their performance. I retrieved
from the crowd and took a walk in a park near by to
complete the song I had in mind. The next morning
it was done and what came out was a song like tune
divided by a canon in its middle.
Nous serons les Araignées
For modern string ensemble and sampler
A stressful soundscape designed to enheance the impression
of a hungry and predatorial space
Lit d'Herbe
François Rossignol, Keyboards
Grégory Gégoux, Guitar
From the Prüflabor Sonor album 'Champs Lumière', an opus exclusivly comprised of
drone music. Intense and evolving mysts and sprays of draped melodies hovering on top
of softly growling/pulsing masses of humming. The duo's drones seem not to work in time
like music constructed around an architectural shape, rather it seems to capture the very essence
of time at a stand still.
POMO no1
Samples, processed piano and digital treatment
From and opus of twenty one pieces exploring computerized
modeling of sound, these pomos (Short for POst-MOdern
electronic music) collide and clash unusual elements of
sound, music, and voice to form at times promiscuous
assemblages, while in other cases create organic orchestrations.
Sonnet 35
Processed sampled voices and synthesisers
My take on William Shakespear's 35th sonnet.
The music reflects on the dark perspective of the
artist being at the mercy if his/her toughest
critics - tough criticisms hurt yet has to be
considered. It is a lifelong inner conflict that
most creators battle, but never champion.

Le Printemps d'Hildegard Jone
For piano, snare drum and processed voice
A funny tune intended to show that creativity in contemporary classical music
doesn't have to be somber or intellectual, it can also be spontaneous and serious
at the same time.
Anansi
Music performed by IZA. Written, Mixed and Mastered by F. Rossignol
World beat pop with an electro beat flavor. This song is taken from her most
recent album IZA. I produced, made the takes and did the mix/master
at my studio in Chambly.
Pitié pour les salauds
Mus. Les Dindons d'Trécaré. Mixed and Mastered by F.Rossignol
Inspired by the 'folk sale' music culture (Dirty Folk), les Dindons are a
straight forward, in your face power quintet with the energy to bring down
the house! This is taken from their most recent album Vraiment pas si pire.
I produced, made the takes and did the mix/master at my studio
Trio
For indie rock quintet
performed by We Drive Cars
Oh nostalgia, nostalgia! This is one of the very last songs
that me and Grégory Gégoux wrote together for our band
We Drive Cars. An indie rock quintet unique in sound yet
reflecting the essence of the indie culture from the Montreal
club scene. Colored and playful arrangement on top of
free form structures, - always interesting.
Dub du bord de l'eau
Sampled and synthesised sounds
A collaborative project with Major Dub, I produced the music
by adding the strings, celesta and the shannaî. I also did the
final mix along with some audio processing, and the mastering
at my home studio in Chambly. You can tell that the atmosphere
was relaxed and positive through out and very inclined on creativity.
A lot of fun!
Si on s'parlait un peu d' Amour
Mus. Guylaine Tremblay; voice and guitar
Recorded in the comfort of my home studio with quality preamps to get
all the magic of a great acoustic performance. Guylaine is an extrordinary
singer/songwriter, so the job was a breeze and my string arrangements as
well as my back vocals came out seemlessly.
La Souricière
For Orchestra and electro-accoustic processing
This the Ouverture commissionned by 'La comédie Humaine' for the classic
master piece by World renowned British author Agatha Christie. A modern
twist on the play is added with a stylish over-dubbing of musical genres that
reflects period aesthetics and modern psychological drama.
Pygmalion
For Orchestra and Electro-acoustic processing
This is the Ouverture comissionned by 'La Comédie Humaine' for the classic
master piece by World renowned British author George Bernard Shaw. A
modern twist on the play is added with a stylish over-dubbing of musical
genres that reflects period aesthetics and modern orchestration
From Trust to Dust
For Orchestra, Electro-acoustic and acousmatic processing
After having produced a first opus in the genre of Butoh, an art form for
danse theater, I decided to try and make a work of music in the genre’s
spirit that would be able to stand on its own. I wanted to capture the essence
of my vision of Butoh without the support of dancers and I also wanted the
listeners to recreate images in their minds. It turned out to be very theatrical music!
Cyrano de Bergerac
For Baroque Orchestra
This is a small compilation of the pieces I wrote for the play of the same name.
The idea in this production was to create an entertaining version of play for a large
public. The structures are blunt and a French cinematic touch is sometimes added
to spice things up!
Effervescence et calomnie
For butoh theater - no1 of 8
Radical and modern, these pieces show no compromise to shock even the
most avant-garde audience. Written for the butoh theater, an art form that
feeds in doom and the decadence of a society in post world war era, it
channels the darkest and most malign behaviors of human beings trapped
in habits of achievements opposed by a reality that confronts all schemes
of good will. Acceptance is forced through hard catartic journeys into
harsh paths of consternation. Spirituality emerges as long meditations and
cries replacing denial where abnegation originally stung.

Gloire et vanité
For butoh theater - no7 of 8

Mystique
Orchestral New age
The characteristic atmosphere of the new age music culture dressed up in
shining orchestral gounds. A kind of music reminescent of Ron Fricke
films that promotes reflexions and introspection. The writing is all in breathy
pad mouvements that invites a slow paced breathing.
Om Tare Tuttare
Guylaine Tremblay, voice and guitar,
arrangements by. F.Rossignol
An acoustic take on Mantras. The result is an accessible feel for our
Westerners's ears without any compromise to the intent of the prayer.
It also shows the versatility of the genre in the hands of creative artists.
Pluton
Cinematic Arrangement style
The fusion between Orchestral instruments and synthesisers is nothing new to the genre,
that is to say, nothing new in terms of sonority. But with blockbuster films using new age
drone atmospheres, especially in sci-fi pictures, the influence on a new generation of
composers has helped this particular instrumentation has morphed into a unique brand of
new age experience aiming at the non spiritual clientèle.
Celestial Dance
F.Rossignol, Percussions, Sitar, orchestration
S.Trottier, Vedic chants
A world beat twist that is becomming popular among the new age music crowd. Inspired
by religious cultures from Asia, I orchestrated the music with National Geographic
imageries in mind hoping that the listener would hop along on the cammel ride...
